1) Discuss, define, compare and contrast mandatory and discretionary appellate jurisdiction. What types of courts tend to have each type? What type of jurisdiction does the U.S. Supreme Court have?

 2) Discuss, define, compare and contrast the Warren, Burger and Rehnquist Courts. Be sure to provide examples.

 3) Discuss, define, compare and contrast en banc and panel decisions.

 4) Although it annually decides only around 100 cases, the U.S. Supreme Court is an extremely important institution in national criminal justice policy. Explain why this is so. Be sure to provide examples and discuss the trends of the Warren, Burger and Rehnquist Courts.
