Submit as a

HARASSMENT CASE STUDY FORUM
One day, a woman named Marie who works for the city comes to your
office, claiming that her male supervisor (Richard) has been
sexually harassing her. According to her, Richard has asked her
out on a date on three different occasions and Marie has refused
each time. In addition, Marie claims that Richard has engaged in
inappropriate sexual conversation, including asking Marie about
pornographic movies that he has seen. However, Marie also admits
that Richard has never touched her in an inappropriate or sexual
manner.
After you listen to Marie's story, you call Richard into your
office. You ask him about Marie's allegations. He admits the
allegations, but he insists that it's "no big deal." He
emphasizes the fact that he has never physically touched her. He
also informs you that he gave Marie a promotion, even though she
refused his sexual advances. Therefore, he claims, this is not a
case of sexual harassment.
What will you do?
1
- Reprimand Richard
2
- Transfer Marie to another
job
3
- Do nothing
