THE HIV-POSITIVE JANITOR CASE STUDY
PART ONE
Submit as a "New Post" to the HIV-POSITIVE JANITOR CASE STUDY FORUM

One day, one of the janitors who works at City Hall introduces himself as Jim and requests a meeting with you. You agree.

At this meeting, Jim reveals to you that one of the other janitors working at City Hall has recently tested positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. According to Jim, all of the other janitors are afraid to work with another employee who has HIV. They are afraid that they might somehow become infected.

Jim asks that you fire the janitor who has HIV. He says that if you fail to do so, the other janitors may quit their jobs. The city would then have to spend money to recruit and hire replacements.

What will you do?

1 - Fire the HIV-positive janitor

2 - Fire the HIV-positive janitor, but give him severance pay of $20,000

3 - Do nothing
