IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR ID INFORMATION AND A INTRO LETTER FROM ME, CHECK YOUR RSU EMAIL ACCOUNT. IF YOU CAN'T FIND ALL THIS INFORMATION, EMAIL ME IMMEDIATELY. THIS WAS SENT OUT THE WEEK BEFORE THE CLASS STARTED.

Please make sure that when you open my web site that the "WWW" is in your address bar. For some reason The Web Assignments sometimes refuse to submit if the "WWW" is missing. I don't have a clue why. Only about 2% have had a problem with this, but if you do, check out the address bar when you initially open the site. This will probably be the problem.

Notice! Notice!
Scroll Down and Read all the Announcements Below
(I get questions every day from people who have not read the comments below)

If you haven't looked at some of the sample web assignment writing samples, you should do so. These are not perfect papers, maybe not even the best  that came in, but they are good papers and all got an "A". Just click on "Writing Samples" on the "Government Page".  Use only for reference; Be very careful not to copy anything. I hope by now you have been all over the web site and have discovered any of the things that are there to help you. Use however you see fit.

Also:
If you have not clicked on the FAC (Frequently Asked Questions) Button, check it out. These are good places to check before sending e-mails. I don't mind answering any questions you may have, but many questions asked in the past have their answers already published on the Web.

Also:
If you make a score less than 90 on a regular unit quiz, spend more time with the practice tests. The quiz questions and answers all come right out of the Practice tests.

Also:
Web Assignment questions are generic and you may have to rely on several chapters and maybe some other sources to fully prepare the web assignment writings. I just tried to line up the questions with the chapters where the bulk of the material could be found. You will need to use your text as something of a reference book rather than a traditional reader. Almost no subject in government is a stand alone subject, but requires a lot of related material to make sense of anything.

ALSO
Check the "Grade Page" on my web site (on opening page) often. (Preferably the day after each assignment is submitted) If you don't see a grade for a "Quiz" within 24 hours, (week days) e-mail me at rutledge@garyrutledge.com
If you don't see a grade for a "Web Assignment" within 24 hours, you can contact me or just resubmit the assignment. Quizzes can be submitted only once. Web assignments can be submitted multiple times. You should save the confirmation page with your score for all quizzes and save a back up copy of all "Web Assignments" that you submit, just in case something bad happens and a resubmit is required.

If you haven't found your grades yet, click on "Grades" at the bottom left of the home page of my web. Click on the appropriate type of class. You should then see your grades next to your ID number.

My grading program creates a new column when I receive the first grade for an assignment and puts the abbreviation of that assignment at the top of the column. Abbreviations with a "Q" are for quizzes, "WA" is for web assignment. "MT" is midterm "Fin" is final. "Con" is short for Constitution, etc. Online students will also have abbreviations for Threaded discussions (TD) Simple, No? There isn't room to spell out all the assignments or the grade page would be three or four feet wide.

The grades are going to appear pretty much in the same sequence as the assignments of the units in the work schedule calendar. Questions marks indicate that no grade has come in yet and that assignment is not yet counted as late. Only when question marks turn to a number grade do they affect your grade average.

The grades do not appear on the grade page automatically after you take a quiz or submit an assignment. There are many steps that I have to go through before publishing the grades to the web where you see them, so do not expect to see grades on the "Grade Page" instantly.   In most cases, grades should appear before noon for anything submitted before 8:00AM in the morning and from the previous day (on weekdays, excluding discussion forum postings)

ALSO
Be sure to spend time with the practice test for each unit before taking any quizzes. All the quiz questions and answers come right out of the Practice Tests. Your quiz grades should be in the "A" range if you first review the Practice Tests. Good luck.

ALSO
Always identify yourself in in the text of all of your messages with your full name and ZAP number. It is helpful to me if I don't have to try to identify you from the often cryptic e-mail address and then try to figure out in which of 6 classes you might be in. If you are in my 8:00am MTWT class the ZAP Number (as shown in the Summer Schedule) is 3100. If you are in one of my On-line classes, the ZAP is either 3103 or 3128 (Check the RSU Summer Schedule). You should also be able to tell which section you are in by your invoice or some of the RSU Online documentation you have received. If you can't figure it out, let me know.

ALSO
Use my rutledge@garyrutledge.com mail account for all e-mails. This expedites my receiving and answering of e-mails. Do not send any assignments by email and do not send any attachments.
